Terms & Conditions

Last updated: June 2026

1. About These Terms

These Terms and Conditions govern your use of Zalero's loan-matching and introduction service. By using our service, you agree to be bound by these terms.

Zalero is a trading style of Forces Compare Limited, authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) under Firm Reference Number 785329.

Zalero is a credit broker, not a lender. We introduce you to lenders and credit providers on our panel. We do not lend money, make credit decisions, set interest rates, or collect repayments. Any loan you take out is a separate agreement between you and the lender, governed by that lender's own terms.

2. Eligibility

To use our service, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be a UK resident
  • Have a regular income
  • Have a valid UK bank account
  • Not be currently bankrupt or in an IVA

Meeting these criteria does not guarantee that you will be matched with a lender or that a lender will approve you. Lending decisions are made solely by the lender.

3. How Our Service Works

When you use our service, we may carry out a soft credit search to help match you with suitable lenders. A soft search will not affect your credit score and is only visible to you.

If you are matched and choose to proceed with a lender, that lender — not Zalero — may carry out a hard credit search, which can be visible on your credit file. The lender will tell you before they do this.

4. If a Lender Accepts You

If a lender accepts your application, the lender — not Zalero — will provide you with a credit agreement setting out:

  • The loan amount
  • The interest rate and APR
  • The repayment schedule
  • The total amount repayable
  • Any fees or charges

You should read the lender's agreement in full before accepting it. You will usually have a 14-day right to withdraw from the credit agreement under the Consumer Credit Act 1974. This right is between you and the lender.

5. Repayments

Repayments are made to your lender under the credit agreement you sign with them, not to Zalero. The amounts, dates and method of repayment are set by your lender.

If you think you may have difficulty making a payment, contact your lender as soon as possible.

6. Missed or Late Payments

Missing a payment or paying late may result in fees, additional interest, an impact on your credit score, and recovery action, as set out in your lender's agreement. These are matters between you and your lender.

If you are struggling to repay, contact your lender early. Free debt advice contacts are listed on our Responsible Lending page.

7. Early Repayment

You can usually repay your loan early under the terms of your lender's agreement, and you may pay less interest as a result. Arrange early repayment directly with your lender.

8. If You Don't Keep Up Repayments

If you do not keep up repayments, your lender may:

  • Report the default to credit reference agencies
  • Instruct debt collection agencies
  • Take legal action to recover the debt
  • Require repayment of the full outstanding balance

These actions are taken by your lender, in line with their agreement and applicable law — not by Zalero.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will publish any material changes on our website at least 30 days in advance. Your continued use of our service after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

10. Complaints

If you are unhappy with our introduction service, please contact us through our contact form. Our full process is set out in our Complaints Procedure. If you are not satisfied with our final response, you can refer the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service.

Complaints about a loan itself — such as a lender's decision or how your agreement is administered — should be raised with the lender, although you may also be able to bring these to the Financial Ombudsman Service.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by English law and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
